VIJAYAWADA: Underscoring the need for unity among the leaders of the NDA for the continuation of the government in the State, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan gave a clarion call to the MLAs and leaders of the TDP, JSP and BJP not to give scope for unnecessary controversies with their attitudes.
During the discussion on the Appropriation Bill in the AP Legislative Assembly on Friday, the Chief Minister reminded the leaders that they have won because of going to the public as an alliance.
“The government and parties should not face difficulties because of your (MLAs) individual behaviour. Dy CM Pawan Kalyan time and again said that the State will benefit only with the continuation of the NDA government for 15 years in the State. We have an agenda as an alliance. We should win in the 2029 elections and achieve the goals of Vikasit Bharat Vikasit Andhra Pradesh 2047,” Naidu said.
Asserting that development of the State is possible only with the unity within the alliance, Pawan Kalyan said that he sweated for the NDA in 2014 without aspiring for positions. But it was not possible in 2019.
“In 2024, I set aside my own interests and cooperated in the formation of the coalition. We must resolve any small differences among ourselves to fulfill the aspirations and hopes of the people. The coalition government should remain in power for another 15 years for the state to achieve all-round development.
Coming down heavily on the opposition YSRCP MLAs for not attending the Assembly Session, Chief Minister Naidu criticised that party for not attending the House despite winning 11 seats in the recent elections. He said that if a party has been elected by the people, it should attend the Assembly instead of staying away by insisting that it would participate only if granted official Opposition party status.
Naidu stated that the power to grant Opposition status lies with the people and not with the ruling party.
He added that the people decide through their votes which party forms the government and whether a party has enough strength to claim Opposition status or not.
“The previous government even mortgaged government assets to raise loans. Loans were taken at high interest rates of 12-13 percent misusing public finances. The coalition government restructured loans worth Rs 43,298 crore, saving Rs 328 crore,” Naidu said.
The Chief Minister said Polavaram project will be dedicated to the nation before the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027 to provide water to farmers. With the Centre’s support the Amaravati capital project is back on track. The government saved the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which has now recorded profits for the first time, he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government will seek Supreme Court approval to establish a High Court bench in Kurnool.
Expressing serious concern over increasing white-collar crimes, digital crimes and social media harassment, the Chief Minister warned of serious action against the guilty. The Chief Minister expressed serious concern over behaviour of leaders of some political parties who are encouraging violence.
